The Telescope Dome, Tuesday Evening

Jeremy wasn't a guy who went back on his word or did date-type things in a half-assed manner. He'd dressed well, and had a table for two set out within the little observatory on the dorm roof. What was being served was covered with some of those shiny dome things for now, but it was going to be good. Of course it was, he'd ~~handwavily~~ gotten it from one of the dining establishments on the island on special order.

He also had something else, a little surprise hidden away, but that was for later. Now all he needed was Caroline, and he'd be set.

While he waited, he made sure everything was perfect.

It didn't take much to win Caroline over and compliments were a fast method. She set her plate down and leaned over to have a look in the telescope. Amazed by the clarity and seeing a star so brightly compared to just looking up with her naked eye (sharp as her vampiric vision may be), Caroline smiled and made a little excited sound. "Oooh, is it supposed to be so blue?"

"I think that has something to do with the atmosphere of the Earth, 'cause the light has to come a long way to get to us so the color gets brighter." And this was about the only subject she was ever going to hear him sounding so smart about. "Pretty amazing, right?"

"Seriously amazing," she agreed, turning a smile on both Jeremy and his knowledge. "You seem like a smart guy. Maybe too smart."

"I sound smart?" Oh, way to sound surprised, Jeremy. He shook his head with a little smile and a shrug. "I'm not smart, you can ask anyone. I'm just interested in this astronomy thing, that's all. Definitely not too smart."

And it didn't bother him one bit. Maybe in a couple of years.

"Oh I will," Caroline replied with a wink, feeling a little pride that she was good at finding things out. And completely ruining then, but that was not something she was proud of. "But bets are you're too smart, bringing a girl up here where it's quiet. Dressing up, feeding her, showing off. I should be careful." Like she wanted to be careful.

Jeremy tilted his head at her, smirking, and moved just about an inch closer without really teven noticing he did it. "Do you want to be careful?"

He might not have thought she should.

"Careful sounds very boring, really," Caroline replied, matching his inch because she was no fool. "You did promise to surprise me, after all."

"And I actually still have a surprise hidden away for you," Jeremy said, nodding... vaguely in the direction where he thought he'd stashed said thing in. He wasn't sure and he wasn't about to look away from her right now. "I don't think it's boring, but it's not particularly careless either."

"Oh, you can't say something like that and not deliver," Caroline said, looking excited by the prospect of a surprise and leaning in to rest a hand on his shoulder. Hey, she liked being girly, it made her feel normal.

And if her feeling normal entailed her touching him, then Jeremy was all for it. He glanced at her hand, and grinned.

"Okay, so would you like your surprise now?"

"Yes, of course!" Caroline grinned. "Should I cover my eyes or do I need to move?" Enthusiastic was a good word for her.

"Close your eyes," Jeremy decided, already moving to slide away from her for the moment, as reluctant as he was to do that. "No peeking."

"No peeking," she agreed, closing her eyes and tilting her head back a little. Caroline considered tapping into that super hearing of hers, but decided she would let the surprise be a surprise like a good girl.

Though it was tempting. "I'll try to pretend it's a good surprise even if it's not," she teased, totally impatient as she waited.

Jeremy laughed quietly. "I'll appreciate it, though I think you'll like this one." Or so he hoped. He went over to the bag he'd had stashed to the side, and pulled out a small box, which he then opened to get what he'd gotten delivered to himself late Monday evening.

And then he came back to stand in front of her. "Tadah. You can open your eyes now."

He was holding an expensive-looking bottle of perfume, from a ~~wonderfully handwavy~~ high end label. Limited Edition, the bottle said, and it really was. It also, though having probably already been featured in some early ads, wouldn't be commercially available for closer to another month.

Jeremy would happily point that little fact out, too. He knew this had the risk of seeming like just some random bottle of (expensive) perfume.

Caroline had managed not to peek, and when she heard him moving closer, she bit her lower lip in anticipation.

When instructed, she opened her eyes and grinned. "Oooh, that looks lovely!" And she didn't even have to pretend. "Do I know this one?"

Jeremy grinned right back at her for that reaction. "Not yet," he said, some slight cheerful smugness creeping into his tone. "It won't be in stores before the first week of March."

"A man with connections," she said, offering up a wrist. "Spray me? See if you like?"

Technically speaking, in this case he was a a man with a big sister with connections, but he wasn't about to get into all those kinds of details. Karen had already gotten her thank yous.

And Jeremy had other things to focus on. "Of course," he said, as he went to uncap the bottle and spray some of the perfume onto her wrist.

Caroline rubbed her wrists together and tapped both sides of her neck before turning back to Jeremy to try and get a whiff of her new present. "What do you think? As far as I've been told, a man's opinion is more important than a woman in this case." Though she personally enjoyed the scent.

Jeremy, perfect gentleman as he occasionally was, put the bottle aside for the moment and reached to gently take one of her hands so he could bring her wrist closer to his nose.

"I like it," came his verdict with a smile. "I think it totally suits you. You smell good."

There was nothing quite like that sort of skin proximity and Caroline smiled, pleased by his touch and his answer. "Thank you," she said, leaning in to try and press a kiss to his cheek. It was part of the reward system for gifts and compliments.

Jeremy let her do that since it wouldn't have made any sense to try and stop her. No one had kissed him, cheek or otherwise, in a while.

Of course, having let her do that, he was going to try and steal a quick, light kiss against her lips, now. Just a light and playful little peck, and he wasn't the type to get his feelings hurt if his attempts were thwarted.

He was crazy if he thought she'd consider thwarting him. Kisses were few and far between in Fandom and Caroline was pleasantly surprised by his peck. She stayed close and smiled wickedly, "Oh, I think you can do better than that."

"Of course," Jeremy murmured with an easy smile of his own. "But I was being a gentleman, and that was just a teaser."

This next one wasn't going to be. He leaned in to actually kiss her this time, completely willing to show that yes, he could definitely do way better than that. There were a lot of situations in life where he was clumsy and uncoordinated, but kissing wasn't one of them.

And he rested one of his hands lightly on her shoulder, because he just felt more touching was better.

Touching was always welcome so far as Caroline was concerned, but even more so when it was there was already kissing involved.

She leaned in reaching a hand around the back of Jeremy's neck, returning his kiss with a small sound of pleasure. It was a good feeling that she was plenty happy to get lost in for the time being.
