Room 522, Tuesday Morning-ish

Jeremy was actually reading something he'd been assigned in class. Hey, Lysistrata was totally kind of fascinating, and it wasn't like he had anything else to do. He'd had a good night's sleep, so there was no need to spend his time napping, and he'd already handwavily ordered his Valentine's Day flowers for everyone.

He'd also bought two tickets to tomorrow's dance even though he didn't have a date. He figured he might still find one, and even if he didn't, well... It wasn't like he didn't have the money to spend on a high school dance ticket no one needed. He himself was going, either way. It was an opportunity to dress up and party, and if nothing else, he and Juliet could always write an exposé on it for their gossip column.

But right now he was just going to lay on his bed, reading an old play. And wearing his glasses, for once. Whatever, he thought he made the mildly geeky thing look maximum.

"Did you know there's a little observatory up on the roof?" Jeremy asked, grinning. Hey, he was a rich boy used to luxury, but he'd never actually lived in a building that had it's own proper telescope. "We went up there and had waffles. Oh, and I got Karen to pull some strings for a gift."

"They put an observatory up there?" Oh, hey, it impressed Juliet too. "Wow. I guess maybe that just came with the castle. Sounds ... sweet."

She leaned toward Jeremy with genuine curiosity. "What did you talk Karen into?"

"Oh, just getting a bottle of designer perfume," he said, looking smug at having come up with the idea, "that won't be available to the public before next month."

Technically, it had been Karen's idea, but Jeremy had been the one who'd thought of using their sister's connections to get something exclusive and impressive, and she'd just refined it.

"You told her to send a second one for me, right?"

If he hadn't, Karen was going to have a pissed-off little sister to deal with.

Jeremy paused. Oh, crap. "I... didn't." But he looked apologetic about it. "Sure that won't be any problem, though. You can call Karen yourself."

"I should," Juliet agreed. "Besides, if it's floral I need to know which florals. And I have to know which celebrity either way."

It would be embarrassing to show up smelling like somebody uncool, though she wouldn't expect Caroline to know the difference.

Jeremy thought Caroline might. He happened to think very highly of her. "All very important things," he agreed easily. "So, it's good to have something happening on this island again, hmm?"

"Not counting the random monkeys and rose petals?" Juliet asked, though affectionately -- she liked monkeys and rose petals. "Yes. I was starting to think they passed a law against parties or something."

Jeremy had been planning to ask whether she missed New York but something far more important caught his attention.

"There were monkeys? How did I miss those?"

By not having gone out of his room for anything other than breakfast today, probably.

"You missed little pink monkeys?" Juliet looked a bit disconcerted. "Um, I don't know. One spent about ten minutes cuddling me this morning."

Well, now Jeremy just looked bummed out. He loved monkeys! Or at least he thought he did. Would. He wasn't sure he'd ever actually come into contact with one.

"Really? Dude, I need to go out at some point and see if I'll find any."

"You should," Juliet confirmed. "It made my day better, anyhow. I want a pet monkey now."

No, she didn't. At least, not one she actually had to take care of.

"Do you think they'd let you keep one in the dorms?" Jeremy wondered, only about half seriously. "Monkeys are cute but they seem like a lot of trouble, especially with these tiny rooms."

"I'd have to let Anduin know and he might say no," Juliet conceded. "Hmmm. Maybe it could be at home, and I'd just visit it!"

"That could totally work," Jeremy said, nodding. "It could probably even have its own room there. And you could stuff there for it to climb and stuff so it wouldn't get bored."

A few years from now, Jeremy was going to bring a horse into their apartment for their parents' anniversary. He was not the best judge of these things.

"It could even have its own little wardrobe," Juliet declared. "Do you think Mizrahi designs for monkeys? We could make some calls..."

Lord help her, she was seriously considering this.

And Jeremy really wasn't going to be the one to talk her out of it.

"You could always just get them tailormade," he shrugged. "You could design them yourself. Maybe there's even a business idea in that."

"I could," Juliet mused. "It would start a trend. Everyone would want adorable pink monkeys! Or custom-dyed, anyhow."

"Maybe even normal colored monkeys," Jeremy suggested, because dyeing animals didn't seem quite right. Except maybe poodles. "They're pretty wet all on their own. In good clothes."
